General Linguistics with Foreign Language

Programs of Study – Undergraduate Studies

General Linguistics with a foreign language

In our studies of General Linguistics, we focus on the study of universal linguistic phenomena and mechanisms and points common to all or some languages. This, in turn, helps with the understanding and learning of individual foreign languages. In addition to theoretical courses in general linguistics, students will also gain knowledge and competences in numerous interdisciplinary areas of linguistics, such as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, sociolinguistics, areal linguistics, diachronic linguistics, forensic linguistics, and computational linguistics.

To complete the General Linguistics program, students must combine it with four-year studies in one of the foreign languages available at the Faculty of Philology. The languages you can study along with General Linguistics are: Spanish, Italian, French, Romanian, Russian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Swedish, Hungarian and Greek. The choice of language you will study in parallel with General Linguistics depends on your preferences and your entrance exam score.
