Dutch Language, Literature and Culture

The goal of the undergraduate study program is to reach a language level that varies from B2 to C1. This is achieved through a total of 8 hours of practical classes per week with native and non-native teaching staff during the eight semesters of Bachelor studies. These classes are interactive and are partly carried out with the use of distance learning programs and applications. Special attention is paid to oral communication, while the final year of study includes written and business communication.

During their studies, students gain an overview of the most significant Dutch and Flemish cultural achievements in the broadest sense. Special attention is paid to achievements in the field of literature, art and political history. In addition to the canon of Dutch and Flemish literature and culture, the focus is also on works that have made a difference in raising awareness among readers of positive cultural achievements such as tolerance and social curiosity.

Translation is a narrow specialization in our study program. Special attention is paid to non-literary, written translation, but talents for literary translation are also encouraged. The main goal of translation classes is the acquisition of translation competences: text analysis, application of translation processes and strategies, working with terminologies, working with technology, proofreading, working in teams, communicating with clients, and the like.
