German Language, Literature and Culture

German Language, Literature and Culture Studies at the University of Belgrade have the longest tradition and the most comprehensive program in Serbia. German has been taught at the University of Belgrade ever since its foundation in the academic year 1904/1905, and before that, at the University’s predecessor – the Great School.

German Language, Literature and Culture undergraduate courses at the Department of Germanic Studies at Belgrade’s Faculty of Philology last for 4 years, and after that, professional development can be continued through master's studies, which last for one year, and three years of doctoral studies. The study program aims to provide students with a broad education in the fields of the German language, literature, and culture.
