      The goal Acquiring knowledge about Russian history and political changes in the second half of the 19th century. Gaining understanding of the main currents of Russian scientific, social, and religious-philosophical thought in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. Familiarization with the characteristics of Russian culture in the fields of architecture, visual arts, music, and theater.
      The outcome The student acquires professional competence in transferring knowledge about Russian culture within the historical context of the second half of the 19th century for further pedagogical work or independent scientific research. They independently research and compare cultural and artistic phenomena in order to adequately understand Russian literature, translate it adequately, and successfully present Russian culture within the framework of the school curriculum and other areas of professional work.

      Contents of lectures The most significant historical and political events in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. Foreign and domestic policy and Russia's participation in wars. The abolition of serfdom. Reforms related to the transformation of life in the country (judicial, military reform, opening of public schools). The development of social movements in the 19th century. Revolutionary movements of the second half of the 19th century. Science and education in the 19th century. Russian philosophy and literature in the second half of the 19th century. The Russian idea in the novels of F. M. Dostoevsky. Tolstoy's conception of history. Publishing activities, newspapers and magazines. Russian theater in the second half of the 19th century. Music in the second half of the 19th century. Russian painting in the second half of the 19th century. Socio-economic changes in cities and their impact on architecture in the second half of the 19th century.
