      The goal This course will introduce students to the development of Old Russian literature from its origins to the end of the 18th century, explore the cultural connections between Russia and Serbia, and delve into Russian Romanticism, examining its characteristics, major works, and prominent authors.
      The outcome Comprehensive understanding of the major trends and key developments in Russian literature from its inception to the mid-19th century.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures The literature of Kievan Rus'. The emergence and main stages of development of Old Russian literature. The First and Second South Slavic influences. The system of literary genres of Old Russian literature. Early original hagiographies. Chronicles. The Tale of Igor's Campaign. The character of Peter the Great's reforms. The system of literary genres in 18th-century Russian literature. Sentimentalism in Russian literature. General characteristics of Romanticism and Romanticism in Russian literature. The works of A. Pushkin. The works of M. Lermontov. The works of N. Gogol.
      Contents of exercises Analysis of Selected Literary Texts: Pushkin's Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades, Lermontov's A Hero of Our Time, and Gogol's The Inspector General and Petersburg Tales, along with independent research.
