      The goal Students are introduced to the basic terms in the field of Hispanic studies necessary for continuing their studies. Students gain knowledge about the history of Spain and Hispanic America and see them in a wider, global context. Students gain knowledge about the most important Spanish cultural and academic institutions and recognitions, necessary for understanding the importance of individual literary works, authors and literary eras in general.
      The outcome Students use terms from the field of Hispanic Studies. Students develop the ability to select and classify available information. Students critically observe events from the history of Spain and Hispanic America and independently draw conclusions about their direct and indirect consequences for phenomena in the field of Hispanistic Studies, Hispanic literature and culture.

      Contents of lectures The concept of hispanistics. The development of Hispanic studies in the world and in our country. The most important Spanish Hispanists. The most important universities in the Hispanic world. Transcription of the name from the Spanish language. An overview of the history of Spain. An overview of the history of the countries of Hispanic America. An overview of the history of the press and the most important media in Spain and Hispanic America. The most important Spanish cultural institutions and the most important literary awards.
