The goal | Knowledge of basic theories, methods and techniques in historical linguistics; good knowledge of the history of Scandinavian languages; ability of linguistic-historical analysis of the text and its dating; the ability to determine linguistic-historical layers and their role in various texts; the ability to compare the history of Scandinavian languages and the history of the Serbian language. | |||
The outcome | Student has the knowledge of the basic theories, methods and techniques in historical linguistics; s(he) has the knowlidge of the history of Scandinavian languages and can carry out a linguistic-historical analysis of texts in Scandinavian languages and determine which linguistic-historical era they belong to; student can determine linguistic-historical layers and their role in various texts and s(he) can compare the history of the Scandinavian languages and the history of the Serbian language. | |||

Contents of lectures | History and historiography of language; basic concepts of historical linguistics; historical linguistics and the history of individual languages; genetic, typological and areal classification of languages in the North and Nordic languages; historical grammar, history of written and spoken standards and external and internal history of Scandinavian languages; history of the Scandinavian languages with emphasis on the history of the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish languages. | |||
