The goal | Acquiring systematized knowledge of Ukrainian literature of the first half of the 20th century through a chronological review of literary trends (symbolism, neoclassicism, neobaroque, futurism, social realism). Training for the analysis and interpretation of texts of different genres and poetics, a comparative approach to the material. Developing speaking skills in presenting the analysis of the work and conducting discussions in the Ukrainian language. | |||
The outcome | The student will become familiar with the history of Ukrainian literature of the first half of the 20th century, its most prominent representatives and the characteristics of the periodization of the literary process. He will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the analysis of works in the Ukrainian language, make comparisons of Ukrainian works with the same or similar texts in European and world literature. Classes are held in the Ukrainian language, which has a linguistic and didactic purpose - developing speaking skills in leading discussions, forming the ability to adequately transpose national and cultural material during translation. | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | An overview of the literary process of the first half of the 7th century in Ukraine in the context of the most significant historical and cultural events, an analysis of the works of the most prominent representatives of Ukrainian literature of this period. The course includes the following thematic units: theory of waves of Ukrainian modernism; the second wave of modernism: modernism as accented aestheticism (symbolism, neoclassicism, neobaroque), deaestheticization in futurism; the third wave of Ukrainian modernism: literary groups and discussions, the development of dramaturgy, the intellectual novel of the 20s; the concept of the "Arrowed Revival"; socialist realism as an official artistic direction in the USSR; Ukrainian literature of the 1940s in Ukraine (the theme of the Second World War in literature, strengthening of patriotism, heroic pathos) and modernist experiments of Ukrainian writers in emigration as the fourth wave of modernism (the concept of "great literature" and "national-natural style"). | |||
