      The goal • Acquiring basic knowledge about the history and development of modern Persian literature. • Introducing modern Persian poetry and prose. • Developing an understanding of the rhetorical devices used in classical Persian literature.
      The outcome By the end of this course, students are expected to learn about the main currents of the development of modern Persian literature; they will learn about the trends in modern Iranian society that are reflected in literature. Students will gain knowledge of the works of famous modern Iranian prose writers (Jamalzadeh, Hedayat, Dolat-Adabi) and poets (Nima Yushij, Ahavan, Shamlu) as well as the changes in Persian literature after the 1978 revolution and the main features of this period. Students will also develop the ability to understand the conceptual framework of modern Persian literature in its cultural and historical background.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures An overview of the history and development of Persian language, the history of modern Persian literature, Persian literature after the constitutional revolution, new forms and contents in modern literature, modern Persian literary schools, literature after the Islamic revolution and war, very famous writers and poets and their masterpieces .
      Contents of exercises Seminars related to the aforementioned topics.
