      The goal Introduction to the characteristics of Turkish dialects and the limits of their distribution, with a focus on their contribution to the development of the modern Turkish language.
      The outcome The student will master the developmental stages of the Turkish language and learn to distinguish modern dialects of the Turkish language.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures Definition and subject of dialectology; division of Turkish dialects according to historical and geographical distribution, characteristics of archaic and modern dialects, their distribution and number of speakers; similarities and differences between dialects in the light of the historical development of the Turkish language.
      Contents of exercises Seminar paper on a selected topic.
