The goal | Getting acquainted with the basic ideas of erotology and its genesis (diachronic arc from the pre-Platonic to Epstein's erotology), as well as its association with literary texts in Serbian literature. Identifying the rhetoric of the erotic script, as well as narrative (cryptogrammic) strategies. Getting acquainted with the comparative aspects of Serbian erotology. | |||
The outcome | The student will master the basics of erotology and develop the ability to identify the erotic script when presented various texts, to single out the narrative strategies that (un)mask the erotic rhetoric. He/she will be able to compare different texts from Serbian and foreign literature and to gain insight into the genesis of the erotic script, as well as its ideological - affirmative or subversive - functions. | |||

Contents of lectures | Theory The basics of erotology. The rhetoric of the erotic content or "how to say and avoid". Erotic literature in Serbian literary science. The function of ellipses, cryptograms, symbols. The genesis of the erotic script: 1. Love, passion and reason (selection from the prose of Dositej Obradović); 2. Rococo lovers (Simeon Piščević, Aleksandar Piščević, Sava Tekelija); 3. Realist erotic cryptograms (J. Veselinović, S. Matavulj); 4. Romantic lovers (Đ. Jakšić’s prose); 5. Disease, Eros, death. Comical lovers. The female eros. Paradigm change – „Nečista krv“ ("Impure blood") | |||
