The goal Getting to know the mythological picture of the world, based on the myths recorded in the oldest works of Japanese literature.
The outcome Application of acquired knowledge in the study and understanding of the most important works of Japanese ancient literature.
      Contents
Contents of lectures This course studies myths preserved in the oldest recorded works of Japanese literature, primarily in ethnographic records, fudoki (8th century) and in historical chronicles: Kojiki (Records of Ancient Events, 712), Nihon shoki (Records of Japan, 720 ), Kogo shui (Pabirci from old stories, 807) etc. A comparative analysis reveals examples of the use of myths for ideological and political purposes, with the aim of emphasizing the national identity of the Japanese, creating and strengthening a centralized state, and proving the autonomy of the Japanese empire.
