The goal | Mastering the basic poetic categories of the epoch of realism; defining heteropoetic text qualities (proto-realistic, realistic - folklore, psychological, poetic realism, modernism); identifying poetic dominants of individual realist works, of individual opuses, of the epoch; identifying relations with realist poetics in European literature; using the theoretical literary knowledge in the interpretation of literary and other texts. | |||
The outcome | The student will be able to define the historical-poetic aspects of the texts of the second half of the 19th century (the epoch of realism) in a professional and well-argued manner; he/she will be able to identify the basic poetic categories (motivation, literary hero, narrator, genre, etc.); he/she will master their periodization specificities; he/she will be able to distinguish the genre, morphological and stylistic factors of literary works, to identify the main factors in the structure of the text and the relation between the aspects of form and meaning; he/she will also be able to identify the culture-historical and literary-historical contexts of literary works and to use the acquired knowledge in the interpretation of texts. | |||

Contents of lectures | The most representative literary works of the second half of the 19th century and their poetic characteristics; the basic poetic categories of the epoch - relativistic motivation, realist hero, realist narration, mimesis, tendency; general characteristics of realist texts and the dominant (realist) formatting principles; the dynamic poetic features and heteropoetic texts (the poetics of proto-realistic texts; the elements of naturalism and modernism; the poetic stratification of realist texts (the poetics of folklore, poetic, and psychological realism), folklore, poetic, high (advanced) realism. The elements of modernism. Individual poetics. Narrative techniques. Specific characteristics of poetics - Serbian and European realism. | |||
Contents of exercises | Poetic dominants of the epoch of realism. Individual poetics of realist writers and the poetic features of the epoch of realism. The dynamic quality of poetic categories (motivation, type, narrative techniques...). The heteropoetic quality of the transition writers (protorealistic writers, realism disintegration writers). Poetic stratifications (folklore, poetic, high realism ....) | |||
