The goal | During Course Introduction to the Islamic Civilization 2, students will learn about the history of major Islamic civilizations and their basic characteristics. A special focus will be on the contribution of these civilizations to the European cultural circle, as well as the correlation with the simultaneous leading European civilizations. The most important holders of the Arab-Islamic cultural boom of the 8th-11th century will be singled out, as well as their contributions to world cultural heritage. The continuity of Islamic civilization will be discussed as well as recent claims that it is dead and that a single Islamic civilization cannot be discussed today. | |||
