        The goal Introduction to the social and cultural characteristics of the pre-modern period of Japan (the period of Tokugawa, 1603-1868). Getting to know the specificities of the political system of power in the Toku-gawa period. Isolation of Japan and the impact of isolation on the development of social and cultural contacts.
        The outcome Student can briefly present a pre-modern period in Japan and analyze aspects of society that later con-tributed to the successful modernization of Japan.
        Contents
        Contents of lectures Period Tokugawa. Political power. Cultural cooperation with foreign countries. The influence of religion on society. Neo-Confucianism. Emphasis on the characteristics of Bakumatsu Japan.
        Contents of exercises Student analyzes the given literature and performs a critical presentation of the chosen social aspect (religion, education, political flows, nature of isolation, etc.). Student presents his research through presentation and seminar work.
