    The goal Familiarization with the social and cultural features of modern Japan - a period after the restoration of Meiji until the end of the Second World War. Getting acquainted with the basic principles of moderni-zation and the way in which they influenced social and cultural changes in Japan.
    The outcome The student gives a critical analysis of the social and cultural changes of modern Japan and can criti-cally present selected aspects of society.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Meiji Restoration. Education. Religion. Political changes in modern times.
    Contents of exercises Student analyzes the given literature and gives a critical presentation of the chosen social aspect (reli-gion, education, political flows, nature of isolation, etc.). Student presents his research through presen-tation and seminar work.
