      The goal 1. Gaining basic insights into Iranian civilization, which is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. 2. Distinguishing between two significant historical periods in Iran: the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic periods. 3. Learning the skills necessary for the study of history and civilization. 4. Developing an understanding of the religions and languages prevalent in Iran.
      The outcome Students who successfully complete this course will have knowledge of the development of Iranian civilization, including its art and culture. They gain important insights into specific aspects of Iranian history and its cultural context. They also gain a broader perspective on the international development of Iranian civilization and culture.

      Contents of lectures An introduction to the geographical location of Iran, prehistoric Iran, Achaemenid and Sassanid heritage, Zoroastrian texts, the Islamic period, Iranian religions, literature and art.
