| The goal | The courses Introduction to Communication Studies 1 and 2 aim to provide students with an understanding of the general science of Communication that deals with the mechanisms of functioning and the meaning of human communication. Special attention will be devoted to media and digital technologies in both historical and contemporary contexts, with an emphasis on critically examining these phenomena and their role in society. Objectives: To become familiar with the basic concepts and theoretical frameworks in the field of Communication Studies. To understand the role of media in society and communication in the context of digital media. | |||

| Contents of lectures | The concept of communication, basic conceptsč communication and meaning, structure of the communication process; types of communication; communication models; communication and mass media, mass culture; the public, public opinion, the public sphere, and the audience; Media theories and media effects; propaganda, manipulation, and censorship; media and digital literacy; methodology and methods of studying communication processes. | |||
