The goal | Introducing students to a critical debate within which important works of modernism would be analyzed. In this way, students acquire basic knowledge about important literary works from the beginning of the twentieth century, the context within which they were created, their reception, both then and later during the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition, students are introduced to some specifics of modernist prose: abandoning the usual portrayal of characters, changing traditional syntax and disrupting narrative coherence with the use of stream of consciousness and other new narrative strategies.
The outcome | Students will comprehend selected texts and will be able to adequately interpret them.
