      The goal Introduction to the history plays and comedies written by the major playwright of the Rennaisance. Introduction to their status in English Literary History and European Literary History, as well as in their follow-up reception in literary criticism, theatre, film, and multimedia. Acquainting the students with their present literary, social, and psychological relevance.
      The outcome Ability to discuss and write about Shakespeare's history plays (Richard III, 1 & 2 Henry IV) and comedies (A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, and As You Like It) with focusing on dramaturgy, intertextual dimension of Shakespeare's works, relations of history and fiction, political, and metatheatrical topics.

      Contents of lectures Theory of dramatic genres. Historiography and fiction. Intertextuality, Meta-theatrical dimension. Early modern politics in drama. Early modern erotology in drama. Analyses of Richard III, 1 & 2 Henry IV, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It. Analyses of Fuente Ovejuna by Lope de Vega and Mandragola by Niccolo Machiavelli.
