    The goal Recognition of the main characteristics and tendencies of Spanish literature through representative works and overview of its cultural, artistic, aesthetic and humanistic values. Development of a personal critical attitude that makes it possible to formulate value judgments about characteristics, works and authors. Acquisition of the ability to see specific literary works and authors in the context of the whole of Spanish and world literature.
    The outcome The student acquires the necessary knowledge of the origin, development, directions and main characteristics of Spanish literature in the Iberian Peninsula from the first literary traces to the present. He/she develops a personal critical attitude that enables him/her to formulate value judgments about characteristics, works and authors of Spanish literature through research. He/she acquires the ability to perceive correctly the main literary works and authors of the different periods, as well as to recognize their cultural, artistic, aesthetic and humanistic values.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Terms: Spanish, regional literature, Hispanic literature. Territorial and linguistic criteria. The oldest extant texts in Spanish. Popular poetry. Jongleur and clerical poetry school of epic. Renaissance literature, Italian influence. Development of Spanish popular theater and prose genres. Literature of the Spanish Baroque. Miguel de Cervantes and the main writers and poets of the Golden Age. Survey of 18th century Spanish literature, French influence and the Enlightenment. Romanticism, realism and modernism. Generation 98 and Generation 27, a contemporary Spanish novel.
