      The goal Exploring the Afroasiatic language family. Understanding the basic connections between Semitic languages, including their variations and distinctions. Discovering Semitic scripts. Building practical skills for studying the history of Semitic languages.
      The outcome Students have a good understanding of the Semitic language family, including individual Semitic languages. They are familiar with the historical growth, genetic traits, and types of Semitic languages. They also understand the development and features of Semitic scripts.

      Contents of lectures Genetic language classification. Semito-Hamitic languages. Semitic language family and its branches - Eastern Semitic (Akkadian, Assyrian, Babylonian), Northwest Semitic (Canaanite languages like Phoenician, Moabite, Hebrew, Ugaritic; Aramaic languages including Biblical Aramaic, Jewish-Aramaic, Syriac, Palmyrene, Nabataean, and more), Southwest Semitic (Ethiopian languages such as Ge'ez, Amharic, Tigre, Tigrinya, Harari, and more; South Arabian like Minaic, Sabaic, Hadramitic, Mehri, and more; North Arabian languages like Thamudic, and Arabic).
