    The goal Introducing students to the Czech National Corpus (ČNK) and training them for independent work in the corpus. Special emphasis on basic concepts related to language corpora, data and information in the Czech National Corpus, its sources, representativeness of the corpus, context and empiricism, as well as the importance of the corpus for contemporary language research.
    The outcome The theoretical and practical knowledge about the types of corpora in ČNK: synchronous and diachronic corpus, spoken language corpus, large parallel synchronic corpus Intercorp; recognizing opportunities for research and analysis primarily in the domains of lexicon, phraseology and collocations.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The concept of electronic corpora, the motives for the creation of such language corpora, the problems of research based on a large number of data and the reasons why corpus data are also called the "mirror of reality" in Czech corpus linguistics. Basic concepts of corpus linguistics, frequency and statistics. Research domains within electronic corpora and results in Czech linguistics.
