| The goal |
To develop students’ ability to conduct historical and grammatical analyses of Old Norwegian/Old Icelandic texts with the aid of a dictionary. To provide students with a foundational understanding of Old Norwegian/Old Icelandic grammar (phonology, morphology, and syntax), as well as the linguistic development from Proto-Norse to Old Norwegian/Old Icelandic. To familiarise students with the socio-historical context of Scandinavia during the Old Norwegian/Old Icelandic period and the main genres of literature written in Old Norwegian/Old Icelandic. |
