The goal | Objective of the course is to provide a basic level of knowledge of the general literature of the ancient century, from the Sumerian-Babylonian tradition to early medieval works. The acquisition of knowledge takes place in three aspects: literary-historical, literary-theoretical and hermeneutic-aesthetic. From a literary-historical point of view, the aim is to get acquainted with the basic currents of Sumerian-Babylonian, biblical, Hellenic, Hellenistic, late antique and early medieval literature, their development and intertextual interpenetrations. In terms of literary theory, the aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge about the origin, evolution and transformation of exemplary genres (epic, lyrical genres, dramatic genres, rhetorical and philosophical genres, biblical genres), as well as their consideration within the framework of contemporary theoretical paradigms. From a hermeneutic-aesthetic point of view, the goal is to acquire the ability to independently interpret, analyze and recognize the aesthetic values of exemplary literary works that belong to the mentioned literary traditions, while observing their individual characteristics and contextual peculiarities. | |||
The outcome | Learning outcomes of the course lie in acquiring basic knowledge about the development trends and intertextual dynamics of Sumerian-Babylonian, Biblical, Hellenic, Hellenistic, late antique and early medieval literature, as well as about the origin, evolution and transformation of exemplary genres.
