The goal Objective of the course is to provide a basic level of general and special knowledge in the field of ancient lyric, both Hellenic and Latin. The acquisition of knowledge takes place in three aspects: literary-historical, literary-theoretical and hermeneutic-aesthetic. In terms of literary history, the aim of the course is to examine the origin, internal evolution and transformation of lyric poetry in the archaic, classical, post-classical, Hellenistic, imperial and late antique periods, as well as its interaction with the cultural and historical context. In terms of literary theory, the aim of the course is to get acquainted with the meaning and content of the terms lyric and lyrical, as well as to observe the structural, thematic and prosodic features of a number of individual lyrical genres. From a hermeneutic-aesthetic point of view, the aim of the course is to acquire the ability to recognize the characteristics of the ancient lyrical model compared to other lyrical models in the history of world literature, as well as to master the art of interpreting ancient lyrical poetry.
The outcome The outcome of the subject lies in the ability to competently analyze the works of ancient lyric poetry, both Hellenic and Roman, to understand their intrinsic aesthetic value and to recognize their intertextual role in later works of art, of various genre and disciplinary definitions, as and in cultural flows and formations. They will also acquire the ability to perceive the basic themes, motifs and aesthetic qualities of ancient lyric poetry in different contexts and to creatively connect them with various phenomena of later eras, including contemporary ones.
