| The goal | A brief overview of the methodology for interpreting literary texts, alongside a presentation of pedagogical practices for interpretation and various ways of utilizing contemporary literary texts in the classroom. An introduction to the concept of the contemporary Spanish novel and its defining characteristics, particularly its relationship with reality and history. An examination of the social context surrounding the emergence of the contemporary Spanish novel, as well as its social and political dimensions. An exploration of the metaphysical, existential, and linguistic themes present in the contemporary novel. | |||

Methodology of teaching literature; the contemporary Spanish novel and its use at various levels of philological studies. The experimental Spanish novel. The 1960s: the end of Socialist Realism and new experiments in prose expression. Key figures and their works. The novel in the era of transition and democracy—new approaches to the past: Eduardo Mendoza, Antonio Muñoz Molina, Javier Marías, Antonio Gala, Almudena Grandes, Álvaro Pombo, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, and others. Discussion of representative contemporary Spanish novels. | |||
