The goal | Expanding knowledge about the complex interweaving of narrative and verse elements in works of Japanese classical literature, as well as about the transposition of certain motifs, and even entire plots from one genre to another. The starting point in these transpositions can also be oral literature, and these processes can be traced through the entire history of Japanese literature, all the way to contemporary popular culture. | |||
The outcome | Application of acquired knowledge in the analysis of texts, from classic to contemporary, which reveals the characteristics of individual genres, during their creation, as well as their genesis. | |||

Contents of lectures | The genre regularities of Japanese classical literature are revealed by comparing the thematic/motif models, characters, chronotopes, etc., and their functions. Apart from literature, it can also be other artistic genres, from illustrated scrolls (emakimono), to contemporary popular culture: cinematography and animated films (anime), comic books (manga), video games, etc. | |||
