      The goal Acquiring knowledge of contemporary theories of intercultural communication, becoming familiar with the basic conceptual and methodological framework of intercultural communication, and developing the ability to apply scientific knowledge of intercultural communication in professional practice.
      The outcome The student will be able to: Describe the main theoretical orientations in intercultural communication; Evaluate theories and research methods; Understand the mutual influence of communicative practices and cultural traditions within intercultural communication; Apply knowledge of communicative strategies used in processes of cultural “convergence” and “divergence.”
      Contents
      Contents of lectures The concept of intercultural communication; the concept of cultural identity; theories of identity and cultural identity; the concept of cultural differences; cultural assimilation; “encounters” of cultures; globalization and cultural identity; cultural “homogenization”; identity politics.
