The goal | Developing a critical approach and methodological apparatus for the critical analysis of language policies and language education policies, along with the development of competencies for the construction of knowledge in context, group work and social engagement in the field of language policies, the creation of language curricula at all levels of education, as well as the implementation of teaching principles of critical pedagogy and critical applied linguistics in the classroom. | |||

Contents of lectures | The course provides the definition and description of the concept of language policy and language education policy as a socio-political and scientific-research activity. discusses issues of standard language cultures, educational policies of modernity and nation-states in the formation of social ideologies about majority and minority languages, large and small languages, about gender-sensitive use of language in public discourse and in educational discourse, as well as the concept of English as a lingua franca and its position in the educational system, in the academic and in the public sphere. | |||
