The goal | Acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of literary translation. Familiarizing students with the specificities of translating prose works of Russian literature. Developing critical thinking and the ability to analyze one's own and others' translations. Equipping students for translating complex literary texts from Russian into Serbian. | |||
The outcome | The student is capable of applying acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to solve translation problems when translating prose texts. They can independently perform pre-translation analysis of a literary prose text and define and apply an appropriate translation strategy. | |||

Contents of lectures | Historical context in literary translation. Cultural context in literary translation. Specificity of national mentality in translation. The familiar and the foreign in translation. The problem of text comprehensibility. The problem of time in literary translation. Archaization and modernization of the text. The problem of text stylization. Solving the problem of text archaization in translation. The functioning of realia in a literary work: concept, classification, the problem of translating realia. Forms of authorial presence in text and translation. Author's intonation. Prose rhythm. Style analysis. Translation of artistic work titles. Stylistic transformations in translation. Artistic texts constructed on the basis of using symbols or a system of symbols. Russian documentary novel in Serbian translation. | |||
