    The goal Preparing students for successful teaching in elementary schools, gymnasiums and vocational secondary schools, that is, encouraging students to transfer their professional knowledge and skills in literature and the Serbian language to students in a functional way, while respecting didactic principles and proven teaching methodology. Acquaintance of students with contemporary tendencies in teaching Serbian language and literature.
    The outcome The student possesses knowledge based on which he/she uses teaching methodology and methodical actions in the teaching of literature and the Serbian language in a functional way, and applies them during the teaching processing of literary texts of various genres and language content that are studied and adopted in primary and secondary school.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The methodology of teaching literature and the Serbian language includes the study of program contents that are adopted through lectures, seminar exercises, student preparations and presentations, and include the following: teaching processing of literary works (terms, levels of processing), methodical actions in the study of literary works (motivating students, reading , types of reading, research tasks and projects, text localization, interpretation of unknown words and expressions, text plan, interpretation); problem-based, research and creative teaching, methodical approach to literary genres (interpretation of folk and author's lyric poems, folk epic poems, folk and author's short stories, collections of poems or collections of narrative prose, novels, plays); methodological connection and unification of literature and language teaching; functional procedures in the processing of grammar, forms of work in fostering speaking culture and literacy (speech and writing exercises and compositions); free activities of students.
    Contents of exercises Practical teaching: exercises, discussions, creative workshops. During exercises and during independent research work (reports, seminar papers), students interpret specific literary works of different genres, present in the teaching context. Students apply methodical knowledge related to the teaching of literature and the Serbian language by developing an approach to teaching content in literature and the Serbian language at both school levels.
