The goal Students will be introduced to the problems of reception, creation and structure of art, meaning of art, as well as to the question of the origin of taste and aesthetic categories.
The outcome The course should improve students’ ability to think critically about the central problems of aesthetics, develop their own ideas about them, and express these ideas clearly and persuasively in writing. Students should understand the existential relevance of the aesthetics as a philosophical discipline and, on this basis, they should be reintroduced to philological studies.

Contents of lectures Exploring the aesthetic perspectives of Hegel, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Hartmann, Heidegger and Baudrillard, the course deals with the basic concepts and problems of aesthetics and issues of reception, creation and structure of the work of art. Questioning a possibility of the foundation of aesthetics as a philosophical discipline, the course challenges an idea of deconstruction of aesthetics, as much as it analyses the relation between sensuality, finitude, truth, art and philosophy.
