    The goal To know the biography and the work of the greatest Spanish writer, Miguel de Cervantes, in the historical, cultural and literary context of the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque.
    The outcome Through theoretical lectures and analysis of the work, the student understands the foundations of Cervantes' literary system, especially in prose, but also in drama and poetry, and what aesthetic and humanistic values inspire him. Develops the ability to see Cervantes in the context of Spanish Renaissance and Baroque literature, but also of the entire world and European cultural heritage.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Biography of Miguel de Cervantes and its reflection in the literary work of the writer. Poetic beginnings. Cervantes' commitment to theater and dramatic works: the tragedy "Numancia", comedias and interludes. Prose. "Don Quixote of la Mancha": genesis, structure, themes, motifs, characters, relation to the chivalric novel, narrative technique. Projection through time, translations and influence. Novels by Cervantes.
    Contents of exercises Reading and interpretation of selected passages from the works of Cervantes - poetry, prose and drama.
