      The goal Introduction to key concepts of translation theory, basic factors, stages, and problems in the translation process. Developing awareness (and responsibility) about translation as a mediator between two cultures. Mastery of the use of monolingual and bilingual Japanese dictionaries, as well as dictionaries of ideograms. Proficiency in using online translation tools.
      The outcome The student acquires fundamental knowledge of translation theory as a separate discipline, its inseparable connection with other disciplines, and its specificities. They are prepared to independently translate simpler non-literary texts, primarily from Japanese to Serbian, in written form.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures The course includes a theoretical introduction to the basics of translation theory and the ethical aspects of translation work related to non-literary texts. Then, the process of preparation for translation tasks is explained using selected texts. Emphasis is placed on the importance of careful reading of the text, textual analysis of the original, vocabulary research, processes of translation conversion and modification, etc.
      Contents of exercises First, with the assistance of the teacher, then in groups, and finally independently, the student engages in the written translation of simpler non-literary texts from Japanese to Serbian. Through selected texts, the student gains insight into the practical application of grammatical units and vocabulary acquired within the framework of language courses (Contemporary Japanese Language G).
