The goal | Preparing candidates for independent research with a problem-based approach to learning within their fields of interest, as well as by providing guidance in the matter of relevant literature, determining language corpora, academic paper writing, etc. | |||
The outcome | Students become capable of active independent study and research, utilizing the relevant literature, as well as judging the validity of sources. Students can define the subject of their interest and, accordingly, procure or compile a suitable corpus for research purposes, as well as seek out consultation assistance when necessary from domestic or foreign experts in the given field. The student can present the results of their research in spoken and written form. | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | A critical overview of terms related to descriptive and normative grammar, as well as applied and contrastive linguistics, from both a theoretical and practical standpoint. Study units include contrastive analysis of Japanese and Serbian languages through different elements of grammar, as well as familiarization with corpus research. The methodology of academic paper writing, its elements, and the rules of their construction, are also included in the course. | |||
Contents of exercises | Discussions and problem-based approach to specific subjects of interest of applied candidates. Internet-aided research. Reading and interpreting original texts relating to grammatical issues, categorized thematically and chronologically, with an emphasis on works written in Japanese. Investigation of problem areas and review of provided minor corpus. Presenting results of independent research from secondary literature, and own research, in both written and spoken form (seminar paper). Encouragement of candidates to apply to academic conferences and present. | |||
