| The goal | Study of historical and social contexts of language contacts. Identification, classification and analysis of Turkisms in the Serbian language at phonetic, morphological and semantic levels, as well as their place in the contemporary language and dialects. | |||
| The outcome | The student is able to: 1) recognize and etymologically analyze Turkisms; 2) explain the adaptation processes of Turkish loanwords; 3) independently research corpora and lexicographic sources; 4) critically assess the status of Turkisms in the contemporary Serbian language. | |||

| Contents of lectures | History of Serbian-Turkish language contacts. Definition and terminological determination of Turkisms. Phonetic, morphological and semantic adaptation. Stylistic and territorial distribution. Turkisms in literature and phraseology. | |||
| Contents of exercises | Excerpting Turkisms from literary, dialectal and media texts. Lexicographic processing. Work on dictionaries and corpora. Analysis of specific examples of adaptation and semantic changes. Writing a seminar paper. | |||
