| The goal | The aims of the course are: to introduce the key concepts in the theory of poetry translation, as well as the fundamentals of Spanish and Serbian metrics, highlighting their relevance for understanding all aspects of the translation process; to develop, among MA students of Translation, the ability for critical reading of both the source poetic text and its translated versions, which—together with practical exercises—should support the formation of their own critical stance and translation practices in the field of poetry translation; and, in addition to fostering translation competence, to assist students in developing professional standards and in critically reflecting on the position of poetry translators within the contemporary socio-economic context. | |||
| The outcome | Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: demonstrate knowledge of the similarities and differences between Spanish and Serbian metrics; engage in translation-oriented (traductological) reflection and critically assess Serbian verse translations of Spanish poetry; interpret relevant textual and extratextual factors in the process of poetry translation; select the most appropriate translation strategies and techniques in literary (poetry) translation; and understand the concept of translation competence. | |||
